Prayers for the Tired Teacher: Joining a New School District

For as long as I can recall, my mother has had a copy of Geraldine Copeland's Prayers that Avail Much.  She has various forms of the book: mothers, fathers, business, etc.  As I began to think about the power that these prayers had, I was overwhelmed with the idea that one was needed for teachers.  One that was specific and intentional..dealing with the everyday challenges we face as educators in public and private settings.  Good teachers have heart.  We grow weary.  May these prayers be a blessing to you when you don't know what to say. The first prayer is: Joining a New School District.  Click on the picture to grab a copy.

Lesson Plan Template

The work has begun!  I have my new hire orientation today and then we are off and running.  I'm still waiting for my Master Schedule so I am unable to put the times in, but many thanks to Dee Dee Wills for creating a great working template.  If you are unfamiliar with her work, you MUST go over to her!
I inserted a gingham border, of course, and threw in some Ruby Slippers from JW Designs and clip art from my new FAVORITE seller Jenny All Sorts.  I LOVE her work!

Stay tuned for the big reveal for week 1!

Back to School Trainings, GoodNight Moon and a FREEBIE

Hello All,
I've spent the last three days at this conference here in my home town of Kennewick, WA.
I feel fortunate that I've been able to attend and it's only five minutes from my house.  It's afforded me a glimpse into the bigger picture of P-3 and an opportunity to mingle with some pretty fantastic educators and presenters.  I cannot wait to join my new district!  They are inventive and completely sold out for kids!

I've also been getting ready for the new school year, as I'm sure all of you are, and reflecting on what is meaningful and developmentally appropriate for the new children who I will be entrusted with.  With so many ideas rolling around in my head, it's a wonder I ever get any sleep at all.

I'm super excited about my newest printables that are available at my TPT store.

Who doesn't love the book GOODNIGHT MOON by Margaret Wise Brown?

A classic story of comfort and love.  If you do not own a copy for your classroom, you can purchase one by clicking on the link above.

I was thrilled to find adorable clip art by Little Red depicting the book, and went right to work creating a printable that will encourage your student's alphabetic knowledge, number sense, one to one correspondence, emergent reading skills, and shape recognition.  There are endless possibilities to use the centers and activities in multiple ways.  After all, primary teachers are the MOST creative people I know, right?

Hop on over to my store to grab a copy for back to school!

And, since there can never be enough FREEBIES, here is my gift to you!   This is a great Kindergarten Check-Up for the beginning of the year-just for you!!  Be encouraged.  We do tremendously meaningful and powerful work.

Be Blessed,

Musings

What does a Kindergarten Teacher do when she's stuck in the house because it's close to 106 degrees outside?  My current projects are strewn around the house, and my children are listening to the end of their book on CD, left over from this week's trip down the California coast.  My husband actually drove all the way from San Francisco to Kennewick, WA in a day! It's awesome and a bit frightening, but the call of your own bed can be overwhelming sometimes.

Musings for today:
What am I reading?

For FREEBIES Connected to CLOSE READS be sure to check out:

What am I listening to?

Into the Glorious, Christy Nockels

These two ladies' music have been such a blessing to me lately.

What am I touching?
Antique Scarecrow Doll for my Oz Collection!  I couldn't believe my luck to find two collectibles that were on my OZ Bucket List.
This plate was one of them too!!

I've also been working on a Hexagon wall hanging for our newly painted "retro" kitchen.  I've created the flowers with English paper piecing.  I'm working toward a circa 1950's look.  I'll be sure to showcase everything when it's finished.
In the meantime, I will give you a peek at the project I'm putting together.  I think it's turning out awfully cute.  I'm very pleased!

I've also continued to work on many printables for my classroom and TPT Store.  Be sure to follow this blog for more updates and FREEBIES.

COMING SOON!!!!!!!

Today, I am simply grateful...I love my job...family...and the new adventures that await me.  Choosing to thrive, just like I promised my special Grandma I would....

Be blessed,
